3rd Evaluation Meeting of Universities’ Disaster and Emergency Centers Platform (AYMEP) was Held

On 22.12.2021, Minister of Interior Mr. The third of the Universities Disaster Management Application and Research Centers Platform (AYMEP) Evaluation Meeting, was held in Ankara Gölbaşı with the participation of AFAD Heads of Departments, Rectors of 39 Universities and Managers of 42 Application and Research Centers working on disaster management, under the chairmanship of Süleyman SOYLU, was held between 28-29 July 2022. It was hosted by Fırat University

The AYMEP Platform, whose mission is "to bring together centers operating on disaster research, implementation, management and education in universities under the coordination of AFAD, to ensure communication and cooperation, to monitor and evaluate the work done", in short, is the Practice operating on Disaster Management in AFAD and our Universities and Research Centers, with an integrated disaster management perspective for a disaster resilient Turkey, it aims to make current situation assessments and to produce solution-oriented joint projects by forming commissions on related issues in order to minimize the disaster risks of our country.

In this context, at the 3rd AYMEP meeting, first of all, the Turkey Disaster Risk Reduction Plan (TARAP), which was published in the Official Gazette dated 08.07.2022, was introduced and the Provincial Disaster Risk Plans (IRAP) completed in 81 provinces of Turkey were evaluated. After the mission and vision of AYMEP were decided in line with the objectives of AYMEP, 5 working themes of AYMEP were determined. Gazi University Earthquake Engineering Application and Research Center (DEMAR), located on the AYMEP Platform, will participate in the determined sub-committee studies. However, during the meeting, it was decided that the 4th International Disaster Management Congress would be hosted by Kütahya Dumlupınar University, and that the 4th AYMEP meeting would be held in a university to be determined by the AFAD Presidency, in September (2022).
